Short program 06-07 - Quelques notes sur Mozart

For the 09/10 season, black ice presents a uniquely conceived short program set to Quelques Notes Sur Mozart (Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star).

"How lovely are the portals of the night, when stars come out to watch the daylight die."  Thomas Cole, Twilight

As the skaters gaze longingly at the night sky and the twinkling stars so far out of reach, the familiar opening notes ring through the air. The team’s quiet speed is revealed during the wheel as it travels fluidly across the ice. A true test of the skaters’ resolve to reach the stars comes in the angle intersection, a challenge that the skaters emerge through with grace and strength. The music builds, bringing to mind the realization that while so many dream, so few overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of those dreams. The formidable challenge of the no hold block lies in sustaining deep edges, straight lines, and impeccable unison. The skaters move effortlessly and with very few steps from graceful Ina Bauers to steady 135 spirals, finishing with glorious spread eagles imbued with the confidence that comes from hours of practice and faith in ones teammates. As the stars twinkle in the dark sky, it becomes clear that though satisfaction may be found when goals are achieved, joy is found in working towards those goals, arm in arm with your trusted friends.
